Info

Faust So Far is a 1972 album by German krautrock group Faust. This, the band's second studio album, has a more commercially typical structure than its predecessor it comprises nine separate tracks, each consisting of an individual and distinct musical style or theme. Faust So Far 1972 Polydor 2001-299 Single that was issued before their 2nd lp in 1972 called So Far. After two albums for Polydor, they signed with the fledgling Virgin label. Priced as a single, The Faust Tapes album sold a staggering 50,000 copies - amazing since it is free to Faust So Far It's a Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl, On The Way To Abamae and more. 9 tracks 39:29. In comparison to their self-titled debut, this album contains structured songs rather than free-form jams. While not carrying the staggering momentum of its predecessor, the album pushes for a more paranoid atmosphere, as represented in songs such as Its A Rainy Day and the Frank Zappa inspired Ive Got My Car and My TV. The band seems to have some kind of plan at work, but not the type of plan left for others to follow. It's not the kind of algorithm that bears any scrutiny yet, 30 years later, the music remains. And given the state of the boys in der Gruppe, that alone makes it worthy of reissue. By music, I mean their self-titled 1971 debut album and its contents, which consist of the music they played and processed using Kurt Graupner's infamous little black boxes. And by Kurt Graupner, I mean Faust's engineer, the sound wave savior who, perhaps more than any other, was responsible for bringing the group's adventures in hi-fi to acetate. So Far. Faust's second album moves closer to actual song structure than their debut, but it still remains experimental. Songs progress and evolve instead of abruptly stopping or cutting into other tracks. The opening song It's a Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl begins as a repetitive 44 beat played on toms and piano with the title sung over the top. But for seven minutes the song adds instruments, including a lush analog synth line, and ends in a memorable sax riff. Faust's lyrical side appears on the acoustic Picnic on a Frozen River and On the Way to Adamäe,&quo. Faust So Far is ranked 2,441st in the overall chart, 468th in the 1970s, and 46th in the year 1972. This album is rated in the top 2 of all albums on . Inserts are great on this. Sound is terrible. Avoid and get another reissue or original if possible. This album really deserves a better pressing and 4 Men With Beards are notorious for average, possibly grey market pressings from low quality digital sources.

Not sure what was meant by dull mastering, average pressing as my copy sounds perfectly fine although I am concious I haven't heard an original pressing.

The Sinners from Mitar
Terrific job with all the sleeves and art inserts, identical to the originals. The LP is another story: dull mastering, average pressing.
