These solos were recorded live between 1979 and 1984. None of them are perfect, but I hope you enjoy them anyway. Except for the ending synthesizer line on "THINGS THAT LOOK LIKE MEAT", there are no overdubs, and, for the most part, the solos have been left full length. This album is not recommended for children or Republicans. [From the booklet]

Info
Guitar is a 1988 live album by Frank Zappa. It is the follow-up to 1981's Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar like that album it features Zappa's guitar solos excerpted from live performances, recorded between 1979 and 1984. It garnered Zappa his sixth Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. Guitar was originally intended to be a 3-record box set like Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar, but Zappa decided, with this release, to start using compact discs as his primary distribution medium rather. Released in 1988, Guitar may be the most important and ironically one of the least-known entries in Frank Zappa's voluminous discography - which spans over seven-dozen LPs as of this writing. His proficiencies as a composer and instrumentalist have long been lauded. However, anthologies of this nature provide an outlet for the remarkable breadth and depth of Zappa's manual dexterity and improvisational scope, which can now be enjoyed on a myriad of levels. As such, it was Zappa's first album. I have a theory about beer: Consumption of it leads to pseudo-military behavior. Think about it-winos don't march. Frank Zappas first electric guitar was a rented Telecaster, which he obtained when he was 21. He later bought a Jazzmaster. After being paid for scoring a film, Zappa bought a Gibson ES-5 Switchmaster, which he used for several years. Over the course of his career, Zappa played a number of different types of guitar. Frank Zappa Hot Rats. Zappas first non-classical solo album. This inspiring, largely instrumental album was recorded with what was then state of the art equipment and contains some great guitar work. Sheik Yerbouti. Frank Zappa Sheik Yerbouti. Sheik Yerbouti is an ideal starting point for discovering Zappas music. Guitar 2 Cd by Frank Zappa. The sequel to Shut Up and Play Your Guitar, Guitar is a two-part collection of improvisations by Frank Zappa, assembled from live recordings between 1979 and 1984. Zappa's bands from this period provides a solid foundation for what is essentially a one-man show, as Zappa carves his air sculptures from fluid, lyrical guitar notes. The backdrops vary from rock to blues to free-form embellishments to Zappa-defined reggae all the while giving the soloist plenty of room to explore his instrument. Check out Frank Zappa's gear and equipment including the Pignose, Vintage Acoustic 370 Amplifier Head, and Frank Zappa Custom Made Performance Stratocaster. In this video, Frank Zappa's son shows off and talks about Frank's 1963 Tobac. Frank Zappa: Guitar is an instrumental work. Like the preceding 1981 albums, Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar, Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar Some More and Return Of The Son Of Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar later released as a box set in 1982, Zappa had initially considered this as part of a set. 편집됨 3 months ago 참조: Guitar, 2xLP, Album, ZAPPA 6. This is one of Zappa's best from the '80s - a real tour de force of of improvised guitar work. Hopefully the Zappa Family Trust will reissue this as a triple LP someday with the full 2 hour plus CD tracklisting
