The cover artwork by Derek Riggs features the Pharaoh Eddie monument from Powerslave and Cyborg. Somewhere Back in Time is Iron Maidens first attempt at a timespan-restrained compilation, only conveying songs from the bands heyday in the 1980s though Bruce Dickinson is the only featured singer, even in songs originally recorded by Paul Di'Anno.
