Electronica heroes Rabbit in the Moon have been ravaging the dance clubs for nearly 15 years now, ever since their Out-of-Body Experience single shook the rafters back in 1993. So shouldn't this compilation be called 14 Years instead of Decade Well, it would if the original were featured on this collection, but instead it's a more recent remix, signaled by the slightly altered title Outer Body Experience. Rabbit In The Moon was formed in the fall of '92 by producer and Monk, a well-established DJ in Florida. They had already been part of throwing the first underground rave party in Florida, as well as collaborating on new forms of electronic music with their project Anarch-e, mixing club music with hardcore punk and alternative. In the early days of rave music, Rabbit in the Moon was an unmistakable influence. His track, "Out of Body Experience," still stands as one of the landmarks of techno. So ten years later, he present DECADE, his attempt to stay relevant. And it's not really a pretty picture. The whispered vocals on "Timebomb" make it feel like a dated industrial track, and even though "Diamond Dust" goes more trance, the vocals persist. Luckily the music itself goes from mostly OK to the kind of awful ("Mind Fuct"), which is surprising, considering how in-demand they were for remixes. The slower "Dubassex" shows some interesting spark, but it fades quickly from memory. The cover of "Let's Dance" carries some interest, but that's more David Bowies's influence than anything else. "Deeper" finally starts to show some personality, but it's not until "Outer Body Experience," a version of their most famous track, that finally sinks in. But just to remind you of how great they used to be, "Out of Body Experience" appears as a hidden track. But that's the difference between then and now.

heart of sky
Disappointing. I bought this because of the quality of the RITM 12" vinyl I own and some of the reports I've heard about the live show. The CD is none too impressive and how could they include Deeper and not make it the full 12" version, in my opinion one of the finest dance records ever!
The DVD is mostly of an open air live show in Miami in front of a few thousand rich looking teenagers who look like they came straight from a High School Musical audition! As for the show itself, well the kids seemed to be impressed!
