Has anyone compared the old reissues they put out a few years ago to this? Is this actually a new mastering job or that same one from Grundman back then? Is there a difference?

Okay so I bit the bullet and bought this. I own the Marino cut and I can say there is a difference in sound...BUT...Both sound great. If you're like me and you like deluxe presentations of albums with bonus demos and alternate takes I would say this set is worth owning even if you already have the Marino cut. If you aren't into owning multiple pressings for comparative listening I say still buy this and see which one you like better and sell the other. Also if you're familiar with the defect on this pressing on side 4 of the album...I have many visible glitches on my pressing but only 1 makes noise and it is smack dab in the middle of the silence between tracks. Claims that this is a faulty defective pressing because of this are ridiculous. Yes, it's annoying that this slipped through but does it ruin anything? Not really...Like...At all. If you're letting that stop you, you're missing out!

Ahh that’s right I think Grundman has done a few of the Hendrix releases recently but not Electric Ladyland. The versions I was thinking of were the 2015 ones btw. Still, any word as to how those two compare?

I don't think Grundman has ever mastered this title before. The previous (2011?) was Marino from Sterling Sound.

The concert is not really all that great. The demos are pretty interesting and insightful and a nice addition. The album itself is excellent but you have to consider that the masters were not so wonderful to begin with. I have listened to this album since it was new on vinyl, cassette and CD. I have a 1973 UK pressing to compare this with. This new version is a major improvement over my 1973, but all the glitches are still there, its just sonically cleaner with a better EQ. Gone is most of the fuzzy / scratchy sounding distortion. It is much more enjoyable to listen to. Voodoo Chile on Side A is worth the price of admission. It sounds better than ever and really cooks.I got two sets originally and am returning one because Side A is pressed way off center and the disc with Sides E and F was warped because it was jammed into the gatefold. The one I'm keeping also has Side A off center but not as bad. Everything else is good and flat. Couple of big clicks on the concert but I don't really care because its unlikely I'll ever really listen to it again. The vinyl is also really greasy from heavy mold release agent, but that will cleanup.Haven't got to the Blu-ray yet. I'll update about that later and on the rest once it goes through the VPI. Is it worth $100 ? Maybe, but I saw it on Amazon for around $61 + tax a few days ago. Lot's of complaints about pressing flaws, but there also some good copies out there, too.Cheers !

The concert is really for die-hard fans so the recording was never going to be great. I liked the story behind the concert more than the gig itself - having a pool in front of the stage - what were they thinking? I liked the demos although Hendrix wouldn't have wanted them out in the world. The actual album itself will never be listened to because I have the original Track version (blue text and white text) + a Reprise version that I turn to. The blu-ray is just an uncut version of the making of Electric Ladyland that was released some years ago.

Now I understand your question. I was not aware that there was an all digital version of this set. If you do have the US version of the digital box set then you are the first here with it. You will have to create a new listing for it or wait for someone else with the same set to create it.

I just got the US Edition of the set with the DVD/CD/BD combo - but only see the EU/UK versions listed. I'm looking to add it to my "Collection."

I believe that the only way to get the DVD is with this box set. Same with this remastered version. Maybe in a couple of years from now, but for now if you want either one you must buy this box set.

Does anyone know if the European version is indeed pressed at MPO? I see that the version I have was a QRP press. Purchased at Amazon US.

Yes the EU version is pressed by MPO based upon the matrix runouts posted and the hype sticker is different. This US version has different runouts. I've been working on them. So far only Sides A, B, C and D are correct here. Mine came from Music Direct.
